What are Dental Implants?
A dental implant is a titanium post that is surgically implanted into the jawbone beneath the gum line. This titanium post will act as the tooth root providing a strong foundation for the replacement tooth. Then the dentist will use that to attach a replacement tooth. Dental implants do not come loose like dentures and can last a lifetime if cared for properly along with regular dental visits.
I was very timid and anxious about going to the dentist because it had been a while since I was treated, and I knew I had a lot of issues that needed to be dealt with. All of the staff were very warm and welcoming and really made me feel…Z.

" The office is very efficient. Everyone is courteous, friendly and they have a great bed side manner for those of us that have a fear of dentists. Excellent."S.
Dental Implants What to Expect
Bel Air, MD area dentist, Dr. Elliott will work with a local specialist to determine if you are a candidate for dental implants, depending on your oral health and bone structure. We will coordinate the surgical phase of your implant procedure with a local oral surgeon or periodontist for the surgical phase of the implant process. It will take about 3-6 months for all soft tissues to heal and the post to integrate into the bone.
Depending on the type of implant you are receiving, at the second visit an abutment will be attached to the post. This will serve to secure the final restoration and will need to heal before the final step.
The final restoration, a custom made dental crown, dental bridge or denture, will be placed in our Bel Air, MD area dentist office. Your “new tooth” will be adjusted for a comfortable fit and then permanently secured to the post.
Dental implants can be cared for just like natural teeth with daily brushing, flossing and routine dental visits to ensure oral health.
