Dental Implants near Bel Air, MD

A dental implant is a medical grade titanium post that is surgically implanted into the jawbone just beneath the gum line. This metal post will act as the tooth root substitute providing a strong foundation for the dental restoration.

They type of restoration that will be attached to the implant will depend on the number of teeth you are missing and their location. Dental implants do not come loose like dentures and can last a lifetime if cared for properly along with regular dental visits.

Dental implants can be used to replace one missing tooth, several missing teeth, or all of your teeth. They are capped with a dental restoration that is custom fit to your smile. Dental restorations now use the latest in dental materials for a natural looking tooth replacement. We offer the following types of implant restorations:

Implant supported dental crown – This implant restoration is used when a patient has a single missing tooth.

Implant supported dental bridge – A bridge is attached to at least two dental implants if a patient is missing several consecutive missing teeth.

Implant supported denture – If the patient is missing all of their teeth or an entire arch, we will place anywhere from 4-8 implants to secure a denture on each arch.

★★★★★ I was very timid and anxious about going to the dentist because it had been a while since I was treated, and I knew I had a lot of issues that needed to be dealt with. All of the staff were very warm and welcoming and really made me…Z.
★★★★★ " The office is very efficient. Everyone is courteous, friendly and they have a great bed side manner for those of us that have a fear of dentists. Excellent."S.

Dental Implants What to Expect

Bel Air, MD area dentist, Dr. Elliott will work with a local specialist to determine if you are a candidate for dental implants. They will take in to consideration your oral health, overall health and your bone structure.

We will coordinate the surgical phase of your implant procedure with a local oral surgeon or periodontist. Once the implant(s) are placed, it will take about 3-6 months for all soft tissues to heal and for the post to integrate into the surrounding jaw bone.

Depending on the type of implant you are receiving, at the second visit an abutment will be attached to the post. This will serve to secure the final restoration and will need to heal before the final step.

The final restoration will be placed in our Bel Air, MD area dentist office. Your “new teeth” will be adjusted for a comfortable fit and then permanently secured to the post.

Dental implants can be cared for just like natural teeth with daily brushing, flossing and routine dental visits to ensure oral health.
